Position Summary
Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company, is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead strategic sourcing and procurement activities across commercial categories. This role will develop and execute sourcing strategies, manage key vendor relationships, support complex negotiations, and partner with business and financial teams to identify opportunities for cost optimization and increased value. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pharmaceutical commercial sourcing and category management, with the ability to lead complex sourcing initiatives and influence senior-level stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies aligned with business and organizational objectives.
  • Lead sourcing activities across commercial categories, including Media Planning & Buying, Trade Shows, Market Research, Data, Market Access/Patient Support, Promotions, and Global ad-hoc support.
  • Manage strategic relationships with key vendors and drive continuous improvement, innovation, and value.
  • Lead complex sourcing projects, including contract negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Develop and oversee category management strategies, policies, processes, and systems.
  • Partner with business owners, functional sourcing teams, and financial operations to identify cost optimization opportunities.
  • Conduct spend analysis and apply sourcing best practices to maximize value.
  • Establish strategic objectives, KPIs, and operational metrics to measure sourcing performance.
  • Monitor compliance with sourcing policies and processes and identify and report deviations.
  • Oversee day-to-day sourcing project activities and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging procurement technologies, and best practices.
  • Provide strategic insights and guidance on sourcing policies, processes, systems, and category management.
  • Support senior leadership with sourcing strategies, recommendations, and complex procurement initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • 10+ years of sourcing/procurement experience with 7+ years of commercial category management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing within pharmaceutical commercial categories.
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment.
  • Experience specializing in one or more commercial categories such as media, market research, data, trade shows, patient support, promotions, or related services.
  • Proven experience leading large, complex sourcing projects and contract negotiations.
  • Strong vendor management and supplier relationship management experience.
  • Experience developing and executing sourcing strategies and category management practices.
  • Strong understanding of spend analysis, contract management, sourcing processes, and procurement best practices.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify cost savings, process improvements, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Familiarity with emerging procurement technologies and systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
