Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer
6-Month Contract

Summary
Our client, a Fortune 500 Medical Device Company, has engaged GForce Life Sciences to provide a Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer. This individual will be responsible for testing embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated medical devices by developing test plans, executing manual and automated testing, troubleshooting defects, and ensuring products meet quality and regulatory requirements. This is an individual contributor role requiring the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering, quality, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test protocols based on product requirements.
  • Execute manual and automated testing for embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated systems.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, perform root cause analysis, and verify corrective actions.
  • Use command-line tools, log files, and electrical/mechanical test methods to validate product performance.
  • Document testing activities and prepare detailed reports summarizing execution results, defects, trends, and verification outcomes.
  • Partner with software, hardware, quality, and project teams to ensure product quality and testing milestones are achieved.
  • Support regulatory documentation and verification activities for medical device submissions.
  • Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to minimize product defects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–5+ years of experience developing test plans, test cases, and test protocols for embedded systems.
  • 2+ years of experience performing both manual and automated testing of embedded software, firmware, and hardware-integrated products.
  • 2–5+ years of experience troubleshooting software/hardware defects and performing root cause analysis.
  • Experience documenting test results and verification activities.
  • Experience using command-line tools for debugging and testing.
  • Working knowledge of C++ and/or C#.
  • Medical device experience preferred, including familiarity with FDA-regulated products and 510(k) submissions.
