Throughout this GForce blog series we’ve been making analogies about how you can compare various parts of our human anatomy to critical functions within well run organizations. While this may seem whimsical we hope you find it thought provoking.
Today we are focusing on the Leadership Team which we believe represents the spinal cord, or nerve center of the body. The spinal cord in our bodies, along with our brains, represent the body’s central nervous system. The spinal cord is a complex cylinder of nerves that starts at the base of our brains and runs down the center of our backbones. The spinal cord is the highway for communication between the body and the brain. The central nervous system controls almost everything including: speech, walking, breathing, reflexes, our bowels and more. The electrical currents traveling up and down the spinal cord allow different segments of the body to communicate by sending neurons, which in turn send signals all over the body and in our analogy around the entire organization.
The analogy then of the leadership team performing similar functions within any organization isn’t so far-fetched…is it?
The way the GForce’s leadership team functions:
- Work collaboratively and cohesively and set strategy
- Communicates effectively and transparently to all parts of the organization
- Encourages constructive communication amongst all departments in the company
- Recognizes areas of the organization that aren’t functioning to their potential (that are sick) and coordinates ways to repair that area
- They delegate (send signals) to all parts of the organization important tasks and trust them to get the job done.
- Works in tandem with operations (The Brain) to constantly improve (reference our previous blog: http://www.gforcelifesciences.com/single-post/2018/05/04/GForce-Business-Anatomy-Part-1—The-Brain-of-the-Business)
In conclusion, the leadership team coordinates, communicates and manages all functions of the organization, with the full support of the others performing their critical functions to keep the company moving forward. The leadership team, as it turns out, is the central nervous system of the organization!
